A young school girl (Carey) is seduced by an older man, which leads into a captivating storyline. Carey Mulligan is expected to continuously rise up to Hollywood fame, which is why she is another nominee this year. Carey Mulligan isn’t well known in the United States but with her dramatic role in An Education you can expect to hear more about her in the future.

Next up is Penelope Cruz, a well known Hispanic actress that is always stunning on the red carpet. She is nominated for a supporting actress role for the movie “9″ and continues to awe her fans with her acting prowess. Penelope is often misunderstood as a B list star, but her acting and fashion sense definitely have the ability to make her the top of the list.

Unlike other movie stars, Mo’Nique hasn’t been in the spotlight. Even though she is well known in Hollywood, she tends to lay low. She also played in the movie, Precious, based off the novel “Push” by Sapphire. She plays the evil mother that is abusive and beats her pregnant daughter. Her role is very realistic and powerful – which is why she was nominated as a supporting actress.
